The first night in Ipoh was spent just sight-seeing in Eric's car to places where FS had stayed as a kid. We had dinner and supper ( I think... I have selective amnesia, a favourite Malaysian past time in recent times..). The next day we went around to take some pictures.
Breakfast was at this aptly-named eating place called "Sabar Menunggu" or something. We actually had to wait patiently for the nasi lemak to be ready. So I had coffee while tunggu-ing lor..
Then we went to this rock face temple. This temple is not in the well-trodden tourist path relatively speaking, accessible through a road via a residential area.
A tall Kuan Yin statue was sited at the grounds.
It was in the middle of a pond filled with these koi's
General view of the statue vis-a-vis the cliff backdrop
In contrast, this is a miniature garden. A bonsai detail.
The steps going up the temple
View of the general area from just inside the entrance
Looking out the cave entrance
Sitarcase to the inner sanctuary. The wet areas are water drippings from the ceiling. Please be informed that I wasn't using a tripod for any of these interior shots. So some blurring are inevitable. Please refrain from making insiduous comments.. hehehehe..
Another view
These stalactites remind me of huge pipe organs
An array of dieties towards the rear entrance of the cave
A view from one of the lofts within the cave
A closer shot of a big Buddha statue
Another detail of a stalactite
A warrior of some sort
Closer look at the warrior
Looking out of the rear entrance to the cave which leads to a well-kept area
Lo and behold! a large garden where some joggers from the nearby residential area seem to like
Well maintained and yet secluded
View of the dieties on duty
Another view at the same spot
This dog seemed to love the coolness of the floor and solitude of the place
At the front garden, I saw this pod without the "i" ...
Its neighbour had just bloomed though
There were also other flowers...
And also a fountain in the garden
Even a dragon head which was lost in the field
Man-made but it looked good enough to be almost real
Detail of the mini-falls
We left around noon, getting into the car only after Eric drove past this last road hump. It scrapped the bottom of his car. Either low suspension... or we were all too heavy..
Back to coffee.. this time at an Old Town outlet
Busy texting? Review pics? Or trying to locate where we were on his GPS....
Eric (in white shirt), our guide and driver of the day, with FS, the guru of the moment...
Trigger-happy again.... you see?
Will update next part of Ipoh soon...
