Onwards to Tepeng.... (part 4 : to Kuala Kangsar and Ipoh)

This series resumes the picture postings of my Taiping / Ipoh trip at the beginning of July.

A blurry snap from the car as we zoomed out of Taiping to go to K.Kangsar

Spotted this nicely repainted old facade when we stopped at a traffic light

After some meandering, we found the place we wanted to see : heart of the royal town.

Side view of the mosque (see below)

The famed Ubudiah mosque

Another view of the mosque

We went to the old palace which (as usual for most old palaces) is now a "royal museum"

The wooden palace is called Istana Kenangan. Rememberance of past things?

Intricately yellow embellished with black...

I suppose it was large in its time, relatively speaking.

It was unfortunately closed for some "renovation" on that day (sounds familiar, right?)

An old canon which would surely make you think of something else... no?

The grounds between the old and new palaces

The huge and modern new palace. Its more dollars than sense...

Then we continued our journey south. This is the tunnel before reaching Ipoh

Clear skies as we exited the tunnel...

Ipoh in the distance as we descended from the tunnel

View from the hotel room window

Fairly spacious..

Very cold actually, no aircon control somehow

But at least got window lor

Next postings will be places in Ipoh...
