Penang and the north... Part 4

The next day, Tuesday, started with a nice morning. It got progressively sunny and hot later during the course of the day. We decided to spent the day wondering around more at the Heritage Trail.

It was a fine though cloudy morning when we were about to start off the day

Watching Assthrow while waiting for the rest to get ready

Chung prepping his equipment before the walkabout

Some of the interesting roof structures we saw

Another distinct roof style

I like these types of old buildings

These sort of facades are fast disappearing

Chung wasn't lost, just a bit lagging..  hehehee

We stopped at this old Kuan Yin temple where there seemed to be a lot of activities

There was this group of animated and exhuberant kids..

They were excited over being able to release captive birds from a small cage

Above, an equally colourful but still edifice adorned the roof

Perhaps the bird in her cage was used to being in captivity... it didn't want to fly out

The pigeons made a ruckus, enticing the captive bird to finally fly out and away

Other kids were still engrossed at a stall selling more captive birds

Some of the birds for sale to be released

The bird vendor helping his young customers to choose

A satisfied purchase finally made...

A happy vendor with money in hand...

Edi performing the necessities at the temple...

...and FS did the same thing...

...while others were also doing similar rituals

I looked upwards to capture more carved edifices

These red lanterns are permanently raised

The constantly burning joss-sticks and incense made the place quite smoke-filled

Different scultpured roof decorations viewed from a next-door coffee-shop where we had some drinks

A plate of otak-otak

FS took the last piece of....

...BEEEEEEP...BEEEEEEP..... BEEEEEEEP

More red lanterns raised along the shops next to the coffee-shop

A row of stalls nearby selling flowers

The street sign says it all... hehehee

We were going to Little India not far from that temple earlier

A familiar household name not too long ago

Not sure if these are Bengal tigers, but they were so cute

Choli, choli everywhere.. but got my size leh?

More colourful apparels

Before I forget.. Happy Deepavali to those celebrating it soon.

Mouth-watering colourful crunchies

More kacangs..

If you feel a bit dizzy, it's because the image of the glass bangles is out of focus... hahahahaaa

Textile...

...and more textile

Beautifully coloured lamp shades

A lamp shade

Flower garlands

More garlands

Array of pots awaiting new owners

Tandoori chicken on skewers

Saw this lone chicken along the five-foot way. Would it end up tandooried as well?

Spotted this bocor pipe as we continued to make our way around..

Making our way to the next destination around the corner...

Parts 5 & 6 coming soon..

Till the next posting~~!!
