Penang and the north... Part 6

This is the 2nd instalment of the Peranakan House.

More of the many glass deco objects

These surely must have been expensive even in that era

There were ceramic objects too

Note the green hair pomade. I think its called Brilliantine. My dad used to have it too

My mom used these too

The punched-holes in the disc play musical tunes. It is the equivalent to a Laser Disc of recent times

All of us were buzy snapping this, that, or the other

Detail of an embroidery on a wall-hanging

Another intricate embroidered wall hanging

Simple yet effective design

Detail of a bird design embroidery

Intricate window fresco

Peek from a doorway

A bright doorway to the back corridor

Etched glass panes on the upper windows

Another of the etched glass panes

This one is above a door

Taking stock of what had been commited to digital posterity

An unusual red glass lantern

Detail of a carved side-table

A veritable love-seat

Beautiful face-wash jug and basin

Corner wash-basin

The bedroom was illuminated by red lights... hmmmm

A famous brand name from days of yore

Multi-switches.

This is the general area of the space connecting the main house to the kitchen

Inside an adjacent room, an indoor garden to one side of the entertainment/formal western dining area

Closer inspection of the indoor garden

Formal western dining table

Distinctively elegant mirror hangings

Old-school China-style posing for the camera ... hahahaaaa

Carved panel above a window

A complete Chinese medicinal-hall was adjacent to the kitchen. This was spotted inside a glass counter

Some Peranakans didn't get to be made, thanks to these...

Simple brand desgin. No need images of sexuality or suggestiveness like these days

I don't recall this brand from my school days

A delicate weighing balance at the medicinal hall section

I like the simplicity of this tea-set

Spotted this old ice-shaver in the kitchen

This stairs led to actual present-day staff-quarters above the kitchen

Roof of the family's ancestral temple next door

Door to the next door temple

The final posting on Penang (part 7) will be in a couple of days' time.

Till the next posting~~!!
